Energia was awarded contracts in 2017 to develop a new rocket known as Soyuz-5.
OneWeb will launch the first 10 satellites on an Arianespace Soyuz late 2018.
Arianespace has orbited more than 570 satellites since 1980 using its family of three launchers—Ariane, Soyuz and Vega—from launch sites in French Guiana and Baikonur, Kazakhstan.
Vega is part of the Arianespace launcher family alongside the Ariane 5 heavyweight launcher and the Soyuz medium-lift vehicle, all operated from the Guiana Space Center.
Boeing acquired five Soyuz seats from Energia, including three seats for 2019, as part of a legal settlement regarding the Sea Launch joint venture.
A 2018-05-19 Sputnik report claimed Boeing was negotiating with Energia to purchase an additional Soyuz spacecraft for a 2020 mission to the International Space Station carrying two NASA astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut, with the expectation that the U.S. would pay the entire cost.
NASA contracted with Boeing for the Soyuz seats that Boeing acquired from Energia.
Christina Hammock Koch will launch on a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station in April 2019 as a member of Expedition 59/60.
On 2018-05-22, Boeing spokesman Jerry Drelling indicated that Boeing had no plans to acquire a Soyuz spacecraft for a 2020 International Space Station mission and that the company was confident the CST-100 Starliner would be flying to the ISS in 2020.
Andrew Morgan will launch on a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station in July 2019 as a member of Expedition 60/61.
OneWeb plans to launch its first 10 satellites late 2018 on an Arianespace Soyuz rocket.
The proposed training would be provided to cosmonauts scheduled to fly to the ISS on Soyuz missions in September 2019 and March 2020.
Arianespace has 21 Soyuz launches contracted to launch the bulk of OneWeb’s first-generation constellation and holds options for additional Soyuz launches and Ariane 6 launches.
