1. Who operates Polaris

Polaris Intelligence operates the Polaris Intelligence website and service. In this policy, “Polaris,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Polaris Intelligence. Polaris is the controller of personal information described in this policy unless another party is identified as the controller.

We use personal information to:

• create, authenticate, secure, and administer accounts;
• provide saved research, notes, feeds, teams, workspaces, exports, and collaboration tools;
• personalize the service and maintain your preferences and recent activity;
• operate, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve Polaris;
• detect abuse, protect users and the service, and enforce our Terms of Use;
• communicate about authentication, invitations, support, security, and service changes; and
• comply with law, legal process, and enforceable government requests.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the service you request, for our legitimate interests in operating and securing Polaris, to comply with legal obligations, and with consent where consent is required.

4. How we disclose information

We disclose personal information only as described below:

• Service providers. Supabase provides database, authentication, and storage services. Google provides sign-in and website analytics services. Hosting, infrastructure, security, and communications providers may process information for us under their own service terms and data-protection obligations.
• Teams and collaborators. Your display information, comments, tasks, and shared workspace contributions are available to people authorized to access the relevant team or workspace.
• Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or secure Polaris.
• Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the service, subject to applicable law.

Polaris does not sell account personal information for money. We do not use account content for cross-context behavioral advertising. Google Analytics receives device and usage information as described above; some privacy laws may classify certain analytics disclosures differently from ordinary service-provider processing.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Polaris uses cookies required for authentication, session continuity, and security. We also use Google Analytics, which may use cookies or similar technologies to distinguish visits and measure site activity. You can limit cookies through your browser settings, although blocking authentication cookies may prevent account features from working. Browser controls do not necessarily prevent all server-side logging or measurement.

6. Retention

We retain account information and account-owned content while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide Polaris. If you request deletion, personal notes, saved views, tracking preferences, and personal workspaces are eligible for removal after retention review. Shared contributions and audit records may be retained when needed for team governance, security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or the integrity of a shared workspace. Limited copies may remain temporarily in backups and logs until they are overwritten or expire through ordinary operations.

7. Your choices and rights

Signed-in users can update their email and profile, download an account data export, and request account deletion from the Security & privacy page. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of personal information, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, or to appeal a denied privacy request.

To make a request, use the controls under Account → Security & privacy. If you cannot access an account, contact the operator through the creator contact link on the About page. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. Authorized agents may be required to provide proof of authorization.

Residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom may lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority. Personal information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection rules from your home country.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access and database access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized account access.

9. Public intelligence records

Polaris primarily publishes structured information about organizations, missions, spacecraft, products, locations, government programs, and source documents. Those public intelligence records are distinct from account personal information. If a public record identifies you personally and you believe it is inaccurate or should be reviewed, contact us through the method on the About page and identify the record and supporting source.

10. Children

Polaris is a professional research service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.

11. External services and links

Polaris links to third-party source documents and websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this policy. Google sign-in and other third-party features may also present their own notices and controls.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Polaris changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how existing account personal information is used, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
