    Airbus and Safran proposed a 50/50 joint venture in June 2014 to develop the Ariane 6 rocket and consolidate their launcher activities (also buying out CNES's interest in Arianespace). The JV, Airbus Safran Launchers, was established Jan 1, 2015 and finalized as a fully operational company June 30, 2016. On July 1, 2017, it was renamed ArianeGroup.
