AY4 and AY5 are planned to replace Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2, which were launched in 2011 and 2012 respectively and were based on a previous version of the Airbus-built Eurostar platform.
Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5 are based on Airbus’ Eurostar Neo platform and will eventually replace Yahsat’s Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2 satellites to provide government communications across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Al Yah 1 launched in 2011 and Al Yah 2 launched in 2012 and both cover the Middle East, Africa, and central and southwest Asia.
Yahsat will supplement Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2 with two new satellites, Al Yah 4 (AY4) and Al Yah 5 (AY5), that are expected to be launched in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
