The People's Liberation Army Aerospace Force (PLAASF) is a branch of the Chinese armed forces responsible for military space operations, satellite launch, and space-based ISR/communications, directly subordinate to the Central Military Commission. Formed April 19, 2024 when the Strategic Support Force was dissolved and its Space Systems Department was reorganized into an independent service, alongside the new Cyberspace Force and Information Support Force.

    Scope: Strategic Support Troops

    Space mission, launch/TT&C assets and units transferred from SSF to the PLA Aerospace Force.

    On 19 April 2024 the PLA Strategic Support Force (est. 31 Dec 2015) was dissolved and replaced by three CMC-direct forces: the Aerospace Force, Cyberspace Force, and Information Support Force. Space missions/units went to the PLA Aerospace Force.
