    Event context

Alcatel Space and Alenia Spazio (Finmeccanica's satellite business) merged June 1, 2005 to form Alcatel Alenia Space, owned 67% by Alcatel(-Lucent) and 33% by Finmeccanica. On April 10, 2007, the European Commission approved the transfer of Alcatel-Lucent's 67% stake to Thales, and the joint venture was renamed Thales Alenia Space (67% Thales / 33% Finmeccanica), alongside a related transfer of Telespazio shares to Finmeccanica. Confirmed via Wikipedia (citing Defense-Aerospace.com) and contemporaneous trade press.
