Roketsan A.S. is Turkey's primary rocket and missile manufacturer, founded June 14, 1988 by decision of the Defense Industries Executive Committee, as a joint venture of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV), Makina ve Kimya Endustrisi Kurumu (MKEK), and Hughes Aircraft Company, initially to establish licensed production of the FIM-92 Stinger MANPADS. Roketsan has since expanded into precision-guided munitions, ballistic protection systems, and space-launch/space-systems projects, including solid-rocket-motor work relevant to Turkey's sounding-rocket and satellite-launch-vehicle ambitions.
