Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI)

US

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is a science operations center responsible for operating some of NASA's flagship observatories. Specifically, STScI conducts science and mission operations for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), science operations for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), and will handle science operations for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. As a community-based science center, it is operated for NASA by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) and manages the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST), which archives data from numerous space missions. Key activities include telescope science proposal selection, observation scheduling, flight operations, data processing, archiving, and science instrument calibration.
