Joint Chiefs of Staff

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) is a body of senior uniformed leaders within the U.S. Department of Defense that advises the President, Secretary of Defense, Homeland Security Council, and National Security Council on military matters. The JCS includes the Chief of Space Operations, the senior officer of the U.S. Space Force, which is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping space forces to protect U.S. and allied interests in space, including managing launch operations and satellite command and control. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council.
