Event context
This Dnipro rocket/machine-building plant (est. 1944 as an auto plant; converted to missile/rocket production 1951; renamed Yuzhny/Yuzhmash 1966) has long been known internationally by its Russian-language name Yuzhmash, with Pivdenmash as its Ukrainian-language equivalent (both meaning "Southern Machine-Building Plant"). Following Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea and especially the 2022 full-scale invasion, Ukrainian institutions increasingly use the Ukrainian-language name Pivdenmash in official and international contexts as part of broader de-Russification. This database previously carried both names as separate org rows (a data-quality duplicate); consolidated onto the Pivdenmash row 2026-07-14. Exact date of naming-convention shift is approximate.
