Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) is a global provider of network, communications, and cloud solutions tailored to various industries. While primarily focused on terrestrial applications, historically, Alcatel-Lucent (now ALE) has been involved in space-related activities, including building satellites and developing satellite technology solutions. They were a prime contractor for Earth observation, meteorology, and navigation ground segments and space systems operations. Alcatel-Lucent's space activities were acquired by Thales in 2007. Their current activities include providing network solutions that can be used for satellite communications.

    Alcatel Space (France, Alcatel-owned) and Alenia Spazio (Italy, Finmeccanica-owned) combined their satellite manufacturing businesses to form Alcatel Alenia Space, established June 1, 2005 and implemented July 1, 2005, owned 67% by Alcatel and 33% by Finmeccanica. This joint venture was renamed Thales Alenia Space in 2007 after Thales acquired Alcatel's stake (see related event 11ae81ab-b96f-4e30-8a6d-c5e9f826b126). Confirmed via ESA and contemporaneous trade press.
