The first two Rassvet missions used prototype designations R1D1, R1D2, and R1D3 for Rassvet-1 and R2D1, R2D2, and R2D3 for Rassvet-2.

CapabilityGeneralValue 3.5Mar 25, 2026I wonder how they designated individual Rassvet satellites. In the case of the first two missions, the prototypes had designations R1D1, R1D2 and R1D3 (R1 stands for Rassvet-1) and R2D1, R2D2 and R2D3. If they still do it this way, it should be something like R3D1 to R3D16.

The launch of 16 Rassvet satellites marked the beginning of deployment of a satellite internet constellation developed by Bureau 1440.
