FrontierSat (CTS-SAT-1) is a 3U CubeSat developed by the University of Calgary’s undergraduate CalgaryToSpace team.
FrontierSat also carries a camera-monitored deployable composite lattice boom to test mechanical deployment in microgravity.
The CalgaryToSpace team plans to operate FrontierSat for at least three years through a ground station at the University of Calgary’s Rothney Astrophysical Observatory.
FrontierSat received distinct backing from the Canadian Space Agency and the European Space Agency’s Fly Your Satellite! program.
FrontierSat is the first student-built satellite from Calgary.
