Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) is a major command of the U.S. Air Force, headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, responsible for research, development, testing and acquisition of Air Force weapon systems. Formed July 1, 1992 by merging Air Force Systems Command and Air Force Logistics Command. Its Space and Missile Systems Center (formerly Space Systems Division) managed Air Force space acquisition until the 2019-2021 stand-up of the U.S. Space Force, when SMC was redesignated Space Systems Command and transferred to the new service.
