The WD-40 Company is a manufacturer recognized for its multi-purpose lubricant and anti-corrosion spray. Originally named Rocket Chemical Company, it was established in 1953 with the aim of creating rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for the aerospace industry. Its flagship product, WD-40, was first used by aerospace contractor Convair to protect the outer skin of the Atlas Missile from rust and corrosion. NASA also used WD-40, notably in the Friendship VII mission.
