Deutsche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt
The Deutsche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DFVLR), or German Research and Test Institute for Aviation and Space Flight, existed from 1969 to 1989, before becoming the DLR. As the predecessor to the German Aerospace Center (DLR), it was Germany's national research center for aerospace. DFVLR engaged in research and development projects, including radar technology, with applications ranging from ground-based studies to satellite orbits.
