The L-5 Society was an organization founded in 1975 to promote Gerard K. O'Neill's space colony concepts, particularly the construction of large, rotating space habitats at the L4 and L5 Lagrangian points in the Earth-Moon system. In 1987, the L-5 Society merged with the National Space Institute to form the National Space Society (NSS).
