557th Weather Wing

US

The 557th Weather Wing (557 WW) is the U.S. Air Force's lead military meteorology center and only weather wing, providing terrestrial and space weather information to the Department of Defense, military services, combatant commands, the National Intelligence Community, and allied partners. Headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, the 557th WW leverages weather data from military and civilian satellites to deliver forecasts, analyses, and threat warnings, enabling warfighters to achieve multi-domain decision superiority. It collaborates with organizations such as the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) and the 614th Space Weather Flight to ensure forecast coordination and product compatibility across sectors. The 557th WW partners with the Defense Innovation Unit and commercial firms to prototype weather modeling capabilities, integrating interfaces with the Weather Virtual Private Cloud for forecasting and climate change assessment.
