The Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) is a private, non-profit standards development organization that develops consensus-based recommendations regarding communications, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system issues. RTCA acts as a Federal Advisory Committee and works in response to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requests to develop comprehensive, industry-vetted and endorsed recommendations on issues ranging from technical performance standards to operational concepts for air transportation. These standards can be used as means of compliance with FAA regulations and other aviation regulatory authorities. RTCA maintains close relationships with organizations such as the FAA, NASA, and EUROCAE.
