Global Positioning System

US

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a U.S.-owned satellite-based radio-navigation system that provides positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. Operated by the U.S. Space Force, it consists of a constellation of satellites orbiting the Earth, broadcasting signals to GPS receivers enabling them to calculate their three-dimensional location and time. GPS is used globally in various applications, including civilian and military navigation, surveying, and timing synchronization.
