Centre for the Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Interference

The Centre for the Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Interference (CPS), an initiative of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), is a coordinating center that works to mitigate the negative impact of satellite constellations on ground-based optical and radio astronomy observations, as well as the public's enjoyment of the night sky. Co-hosted by NSF's NOIRLab and the SKA Observatory (SKAO), the CPS serves as a hub for information and resources, fostering collaboration between astronomers, satellite operators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to address the challenges posed by satellite interference. The CPS aims to be a leading voice in protecting the dark and quiet sky, advocating for solutions at an international level. Key focus areas include space policy, regulations, industry guidelines, astronomical observations, and software solutions.
