50th Space Wing

US

The 50th Space Wing was a space operations unit of the U.S. Air Force (later U.S. Space Force) responsible for commanding and controlling Department of Defense satellites. Based at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado, the wing operated and supported over 150 satellites, including the Global Positioning System (GPS) and various communications, weather, and surveillance systems. It supported space operations for the U.S. military, allied forces, NASA, and other government agencies, until it was inactivated on July 24, 2020, and replaced by Space Delta 8.
