The Lunar Surface Innovation Consortium (LSIC), launched in 2020, is a nationwide alliance of universities, research institutions, commercial companies, NASA centers, and other government agencies. Managed by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) in collaboration with NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate, it fosters communication and collaboration to support a sustained presence on the Moon. LSIC focuses on key capability areas, including in-situ resource utilization, surface power, excavation and construction, dust mitigation, extreme environments, and crosscutting capabilities.
