System Development Corporation

US

System Development Corporation (SDC), originally a division of the RAND Corporation, was an influential computer software company that emerged in the mid-1950s. Initially focused on providing expertise to the U.S. military in designing, integrating, and testing complex computer-controlled systems like the SAGE air-defense system, SDC later became a for-profit corporation serving various organizations. SDC was acquired by Burroughs Corporation in 1980, and eventually folded into Unisys Defense Systems. The company played a significant role in training early programmers and developing innovative software and systems.
