Norsat-3 is a Norwegian microsatellite designed for maritime surveillance. Launched in April 2021, it is operated by the Norwegian Coastal Administration and managed by the Norwegian Space Agency. Norsat-3 carries an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver to monitor ship traffic and an experimental navigation radar detector (NRD) to detect and geolocate ship radars, enhancing maritime awareness. Key partners include the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and Kongsberg Seatex.
