GeoEye, formerly Orbital Imaging Corporation, was an American commercial satellite imagery company that provided high-resolution Earth observation imagery. As a satellite imagery provider, GeoEye operated a fleet of satellites, including GeoEye-1, and offered visible and near-infrared imagery used for mapping, defense, disaster response, and various other applications. Key customers included the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and Google, with whom they had an exclusive online mapping agreement for GeoEye-1 data. GeoEye merged with DigitalGlobe in 2013 and was later acquired by Maxar Technologies.
