Florida Department of Transportation

US

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plays a key role in the state's space industry by administering the Spaceport Improvement Program (SIP). FDOT works with Space Florida to plan and fund strategic spaceport projects, improve aerospace transportation facilities, and promote cooperation between airports and spaceports. FDOT's investments, through the SIP, aim to attract and support the commercial aerospace industry, improve space transportation capacity and efficiency, and position Florida as a global leader in space transportation. The department also reconstructs roadways and bridges to allow the movement of large space components.
