Southwest State University (SMSU) is a public university in Marshall, Minnesota, and part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. SMSU is an active affiliate of the Minnesota Space Grant Consortium (MnSGC), and its contributions are astronomy/planetarium-based, centered around precollege teacher workshops, precollege student activities, and informal education offerings for the general public. The university also has a planetarium that supports instruction in physics and offers shows about space exploration. SMSU is considered among the best aerospace engineering schools in Minnesota.
