Competitive Carriers Association (CCA)

US

The Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) is a non-profit trade association founded in 1992 that represents competitive, regional, and rural wireless service providers in the United States. While not directly involved in building space technology, the CCA advocates for policies and standards that promote greater competition in the wireless industry, including issues around wireless spectrum, which is becoming increasingly relevant to space-based communication services. Recently, the CCA has been involved in discussions regarding supplemental coverage from space (SCS), where satellite companies partner with mobile operators to provide direct-to-device (D2D) services, including advocating for smaller carriers to band together to compete with larger entities like T-Mobile and SpaceX in this emerging area. The organization's work includes advocating before the FCC, the White House, and Congress to ensure its members' voices are heard.
