DCS Montessori Middle School, located in Castle Pines, Colorado, is a public charter school that implements the Montessori philosophy of education for students ages 3 to 14. In December 2017, DCS Montessori Middle School partnered with DreamUp and Blue Origin, and designed a student payload that flew aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard space vehicle. The middle school students designed the payload enclosure, developed and tested the experiment, organized a school-wide art project to be sent into space, and developed an age-appropriate lesson to share with younger students.
