NASA requested $93,300,000 for Hubble and $68,700,000 for Chandra in its fiscal year 2024 budget proposal.

NASA plans to reduce Chandra's funding to $26.6 million annually from 2026 through 2028, and $5.2 million in 2029.

NASA’s fiscal year 2025 budget proposal released in March proposed a 40% cut in Chandra’s operating budget to $41,100,000 and an approximately 10% cut in Hubble’s budget to $88,900,000.

NASA is providing funding to Chandra to avoid layoffs at the Chandra X-ray Center through the 2025 fiscal year.
