Jason-2 entered its operational orbit of approximately 830 miles (about 1,336 kilometers) altitude at an inclination of 66 degrees.
As of July 30, 2008, Jason-2 was monitoring 95 percent of the world's ice-free oceans every 10 days from low Earth orbit.
Jason-2's initial on-orbit commissioning and calibration activities included flying in formation approximately 55 seconds behind Jason-1 to enable near-simultaneous measurements and inter-satellite calibration.
