GPS III Space Vehicle 06 (GPS III SV06) launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
As of March 26, 2019, GPS III was a program of at least ten satellites under contract with GPS III SV03-08 in various stages of assembly and test.
Contracts with SpaceX to launch GPS III SV05 and SV06 in 2021 were renegotiated last year to allow reused boosters, saving the government about $64,000,000.
The GPS III SV06 mission used a booster recovered and prepared from NASA’s Crew-5 Dragon Endurance mission to the International Space Station in October 2022.
GPS III SV06 launched at 7:24 a.m. ET on 2023-01-18 from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
