GHGSat-D, GHGSat-C1, GHGSat-C2, and the next three GHGSat smallsats were or will be developed on SFL’s 15-kilogram Next-generation Earth Monitoring and Observation (NEMO) smallsat platform.
SFL built one next-generation greenhouse gas monitoring microsatellite known as GHGSat-C2 or "Hugo" on its 15-kg NEMO platform for GHGSat Inc. of Montreal, Canada.
GHGSat launched one satellite in 2016 and plans to launch two more next year.
GHGSat plans to launch GHGSat-C2 in the first half of 2020.
GHGSat Inc. awarded SFL the development contracts for GHGSat-C1 ("Iris") and GHGSat-C2 ("Hugo") after SFL built and launched the pathfinding GHGSat-D ("Claire") atmospheric monitoring smallsat in 2016.
GHGSat contracted SFL to build the commercial satellites GHGSat-C1 and GHGSat-C2, which were launched in 2020 and 2021 respectively and are currently in orbit.
GHGSat launched four methane monitoring satellites in 2025, with two launched in June and another two in November.
