As of February 19, 2016, AsiaSat announced that AsiaSat 9 would be launched using the upgraded, higher capability Phase IV Proton-M rocket with Breeze M upper stage and that the upgraded Phase IV Proton-M had been qualified to provide higher performance lift capability for AsiaSat 9.
SAILAS is powered by AsiaSat satellites AsiaSat 5, AsiaSat 7, and AsiaSat 9 and by hub infrastructure from the Tai Po Earth Station and regional teleport partners.
AsiaSat currently operates seven satellites: AsiaSat 3S, AsiaSat 4, AsiaSat 5, AsiaSat 6, AsiaSat 7, AsiaSat 8, and AsiaSat 9.
AsiaSat moved the spacecraft it had launched in 2014 from 105.5 degrees east to 4 degrees west to cover Africa, Europe, and the Middle East alongside Spacecom’s Amos-3 satellite.
