SPOT 2/ASAP-1
1/22/1990
The Ariane 40 version, the only Ariane 4 version without strap-on boosters, performed its maiden flight in 1990 and orbited France's SPOT 2 Earth resources satellite along with six U.S. and U.K. microsatellites as piggyback payloads.
The ASAP adapter was first utilized on the SPOT 2 mission launched aboard an Ariane 40 rocket from French Guiana in January 1990.
