Taifa-1 was equipped with a hyperspectral camera to provide data to Kenya’s agricultural industry.
Kenya will launch its first operational satellite Taifa-1 on 2023-04-10 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
Taifa-1 was developed over a two-year period at a cost of 50 million Kenyan shillings ($372,000) with assistance from the Bulgarian aerospace firm Endurosat.
