Astranis revealed UtilitySat, a multi-mission geostationary (GEO) satellite that will provide on-demand connectivity for disaster relief, bridge capacity, and surge applications.
UtilitySat is a multi-mission commercial geostationary (GEO) satellite designed to conduct multiple fully operational broadband connectivity missions.
Block 2 includes the renamed Agila satellite for Orbits Corp, UtilitySat, and two spacecraft for U.S.-based mobile satellite connectivity specialist Anuvu.
As of April 2, 2025, CelesTrak orbital element data indicated that UtilitySat had not changed altitude, inclination, or eccentricity since mid-February 2025 while the other three Block 2 satellites were continuing orbit-raising operations.
The Astranis Block 2 passenger manifest for the dedicated Falcon 9 mission included NuView-A (NuView Alpha), NuView-B (NuView Bravo), AGILA, and UtilitySat.
UtilitySat is slated to launch with SpaceX before the end of 2023 and will partially serve as an initial replacement for Alaskan telco Pacific Dataport following the failure of its debut spacecraft.
U.S.-based mobile satellite connectivity specialist Anuvu ordered two satellites that will join UtilitySat as part of Block 2.
UtilitySat is a previously undisclosed Block 2 satellite that can serve as a partial replacement for Arcturus until a dedicated Pacific Dataport satellite can be launched in 2025.
