The FCC Public Notice dated December 26, 2024 granted Turion Space Corporation authorization to construct, deploy, and operate the DROID.002 non-geostationary orbit satellite at an altitude of 525 kilometers for space situational awareness and authorized center frequency 8210.0 MHz with 70.0 MHz bandwidth plus specified space operations frequencies at 2057.0 MHz/2059.0 MHz and 2240.0 MHz/2243.0 MHz with associated bandwidths under 47 CFR § 25.122.
SAT-LOA-20240516-00104 listed DROID.002 from Turion Space as a 90 kg satellite equipped with two HEO Robotics cameras and a pair of ThrustMe iodine-based propulsion units intended to raise orbit to 525 km then drift down to 350 km before ceasing operations.
Turion Space is preparing to launch a demo spacecraft, Droid.002, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare mission later 2024.
