JANUS-1 is a 6U satellite featuring payload and subsystem technologies from AICRAFT, Morpheus Space, Netra, SayariLabs Kenya, SpeQtral, Transcelestial, and Zero-Error Systems that will perform Internet of Things communications, experimental laser communications, radio communications, and machine learning during orbit.
The creation of JANUS-1 involved eight organisations spanning seven countries collaborating virtually through Antaris’ cloud-based platform, which features open APIs and core open-source elements.
JANUS-1 launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre of India under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
JANUS-1 rode on the Indian Space Research Organization's SSLV-D2 rocket launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre of India under a commercial arrangement with New Space India Limited (NSIL).
Antaris SatOS software manages JANUS-1's core bus responsibilities while orchestrating multitenant payloads and onboard computing.
Antaris developed an end-to-end cloud platform that was used to conceive, design, and manufacture the JANUS-1 satellite.
Pulsar is a key sub-system of the JANUS-1 satellite designed to perform ultra-fast processing of space data using artificial intelligence at lowest power consumption.
AICRAFT launched its edge computing module Pulsar on 10 February 2023 aboard the JANUS-1 satellite of Antaris Space.
JANUS-1 is the world's first satellite fully conceived, designed, and manufactured using Antaris' end-to-end cloud platform and has successfully reached orbit.
Antaris Space fully conceived, designed, and manufactured the JANUS-1 satellite end-to-end using the company’s own software in a cloud-based environment.
JANUS-1 launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre of India under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited, the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation.
AICRAFT’s edge computing module Pulsar was launched on 10 February 2023 on board the JANUS-1 satellite of Antaris Space.
Antaris fully conceived, designed, and manufactured the JANUS-1 satellite end-to-end using the company’s own cloud-based software platform in a world-first cloud-based environment.
Antaris SatOS software manages JANUS-1 core bus responsibilities while orchestrating multi-tenant payloads and onboard computing and showcasing secure TT&C protocols with Amazon Web Services and ATLAS Space Operations providing ground communications services.
JANUS-1 rode on the Indian Space Research Organization’s SSLV-D2 rocket launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre under a commercial arrangement with New Space India Limited (NSIL).
JANUS-1 is a software-defined 6U technology demonstration model designed and constructed using the Antaris cloud software platform SatOS and XDLINX’s modular spacecraft bus with Ananth Technologies serving as its Master Systems Integrator.
Antaris launched and operated JANUS-1 in February 2023 as the world's first satellite designed and tested entirely in the cloud.
