Inovor Technologies, an Adelaide-based satellite manufacturing company, is designing and building the Kanyini satellite.
Kanyini will be used to improve bushfire preparedness, response, and resilience in Australia.
Kanyini will carry an Earth observation payload that will collect hyperspectral imaging using HyperScout 2.
Inovor Technologies developed a custom satellite bus for Kanyini called Apogee.
The hyperspectral camera aboard Kanyini is the HyperScout 2 Flight Model built in the Netherlands.
Kanyini will operate in a sun-synchronous orbit at approximately 500 km altitude once launched.
SmartSat CRC procured a small hyperspectral camera and the power system for Kanyini’s Earth observation payload.
Kanyini will be launched onboard SpaceX’s Transporter-11 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.
