As of April 6, 2006, ISRO's 2006 report indicated that INSAT-3D had slipped into 2007/08.
Two meteorological payloads (Imaging System and Atmospheric Sounder) on INSAT-3D were activated on August 7–8, 2013 and were undergoing testing and commissioning.
India cannot presently prepare and launch replacement or mission-specific satellites at short notice.
